With big timers from Texas like Cody Johnson or Parker McCollum, there’s not a whole lot of other known Country singers currently who are making somewhat of national headlines with their music whether on socials, on the internet, or in Nashville… in my opinion, East-Texas native Chris Colston equally falls into this category. He’s been gaining a lot of well known traction for the time being, playing the Texas Country scene. Chris Colston’s vocals are undeniable, which packs a punch in almost every one of his songs — now having released two killer records Bombs Away (2020) & A Boy Like Me (2022) that takes you straight to the heart of what his lyrics convey and his artistry (including his fan base) is wide and popular as the state of Texas is. That’s why I like to call this rising guy Counter Colston, which his comeback post-pandemic album A Boy Like Me, released earlier this summer in July.

So let’s get after his record, A Boy Like Me: It’s one of the best albums I’ve heard in Country Music this year… (It’s right up there with records like Tyler Braden’s What Do They Know or Logan Michael’s Hope for Tomorrow). Chris’ A Boy Like Me was produced by Brandon Hood (Rascal Flatts, Jessie James Decker). Lead single “Boy Like Me” was written by Chris, and others writers Kenton Bryant, & Jordan Walker. Chris says in an interview with MusicRow article, “This song is so special to me, because it tells the story of how I met my wife, and of our life leading up to the welcoming of our baby girl. I’m so proud of this beautiful life we’ve created and wanted to pay tribute to it through my music…”.

Some of my personal favorites off the LP, are “Dirt in Dallas”, “I Hope Heaven’s Like Home”, “Boy Like Me”, & “Hate Me In My Hometown”. On a popularity note, Chris recently opened for Country superstar Chris Young at the Choctaw Casino & Resorts a month ago, and next year he is set to debut as a first time legit artist in the Wisconsin Country Fest alongside greats like Russell Dickerson, Joe Nichols, & many more.

Chris is currently signed under the Artist Management Group (AMG), and quotes, “I’m very excited to be taking the next step in my career and working with AMG. Becoming a national act is something I’ve always dreamed of, and I strongly believe this is the team that is going to make that dream a reality…”. To add, the CEO of Artist Management Group says of Chris’ artistry, “Chris is a hard-working, salt-of-the-earth talent, and the music is rooted in Texas tradition – but has no boundaries. The AMG is proud to add another undeniable hitmaker to our artist roster… Sometimes it takes just one listen to know this guy is the real deal”.

So if Texas Country is your vibe, then give Chris Colston a listen for yourself and treat yourself to some authentic, good gravel road, truck-blasting Texas Country Music. A Boy Like Me is available everywhere music is sold or downloaded.
